In previous posts we have endorsed caution about the use of well-known types for product endorsements. Today, we’d like to report on a “celebrity” endorsement done right. Of course, we’re not talking about just any old celebrity – this one happens to be First Lady Michelle Obama and it’s her project to combat childhood obesity – Let’s Move.
One of the campaign’s most notable projects has been a vegetable garden on the White House grounds where school children can take tours and learn about nutrition and the importance of fresh fruits and vegetables. The campaign has also done it’s part to bring awareness to consumers and parents about fitness and to initiate healthier options from fast-food outlets, big-box stores and school lunch menus. The results have been encouraging, according to the CDC.
Good news for students and parents – more students have access to healthy food, better physical fitness activities through initiatives such as ‘Let’s Move,’ and campuses that are completely tobacco free.

This week marks the 4th anniversary of Let’s Move and they are celebrating with media interviews, appearances at community events and a focus group with a group of kids conducted by the First Lady and Will Ferrell.
