Open up the marketing toolbox and make room for this treasure, Grammarly.
Founded in 2008, Grammarly is a writing enhancement application available online or as a plug-in for Microsoft Office programs. It detects spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes and improves vocabulary usage. Its detailed explanations and examples, corrections and plagiarism checker (complete with references to sources) is an invaluable benefit for small business marketers and bloggers. According to CrunchBase, more than 2.5 million English writers worldwide trust Grammarly’s products, which are also licensed by leading universities and corporations. Grammarly is a 2013 winner of the Red Herring Top 100 North America award, which recognizes the year’s most promising private technology ventures from the North American business region.
As longtime users of AP’s StyleGuard plug-in, LGK sought an alternative. StyleGuard’s bugs became more than a bit unbearable, requiring periodic re-installs of the application. Grammarly, on the other hand, has and continues to be seamless. We have not experienced one hiccup to date and that includes the recent Heartbleed threat. While more than twice the cost of StyleGuard, Grammarly is well worth the investment and we particularly like its ability to review text from a variety of writing styles such as business, academic, technical, creative and casual.
